The 15th century Saanen Church is an alpine church with a quiet folklore: locals believe the thick stone walls “holds” sound as well as prayer. Tales persist of the local wind bringing sounds of chorales as it drifts through the Swiss mountains. This program focused on Baroque-era sacred and instrumental music including music by Vivaldi and Bach, plus 18th-century devotional writing. Performed by the period ensemble, Ensemble Matheu, enjoy rhythmic warmth with stunning acoustics.
