A concert honoring Israeli musical heritage, dedicated to early twentieth-century masters. Ben-Haim’s Symphony was the 1st symphony composed and premiered in Israel (then British-Mandate Palestine). The work blends the European musical training of the composer and the emerging Israeli musical identity, integrating mystic influences. Ravel’s Concerto gives the enigmatic Argerich center-stage and is said to be her personal favorite. Shani is the youngest conductor to ever lead a major orchestra.
