Thierry Malandain’s Les Saisons brings together Antonio Vivaldi’s much-loved The Four Seasons with Les Quatre Saisons de l’année by his contemporary Giovanni Antonio Guido. The ballet is full of movement, wit and energy. Vivaldi’s irresistible rhythms give the dancers buoyancy, and there is a palpable sense of enjoyment throughout the performance. A striking fixed set provides the visual frame, while the choreography, lighting and changing musical moods create the sense of the seasons unfolding.
