This concert marked the orchestra’s first visit to Singapore and their final stop of a major international tour. Like many elite orchestras, the Berlin Philharmonic tours to extend global reach, create artistic exchange, and share musicality in the global arena. The choice of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, “Titan,” made the occasion especially intense. It's not light ceremonial music, but a vast, emotionally charged work full of nature sounds, mystery, grotesque humor, struggle, and blazing triumph.
