The music comes from Saint-Saen's suite, The Carnival of the Animals and the ballet expresses the swan's grace and fragility. This was the highlight of Pavlova's career and highlighted her delicate and emotive style. Soon after Pavlova left Diaghilev's company which brought her success but also conflict with The Russian Imperial Ballet.
