Ute Lemper gives new life to music and lyrics created by Jewish composers and artists during the Holocaust. Entrusted to her through a songbook from her agent, Orly Beigel, these works reveal lyricism, tenderness, wit and longing, drawing on the expressive traditions of Jewish song while preserving the individuality of each composer’s voice. Filmed in Bergen-Belsen, where Orly’s mother was imprisoned, the concert transforms memory into music and honors sounds of hope from the darkest times.
