Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 4
31m
Type: Piano Recital
Pianist: Daniel Barenboim
Location: Vienna, Austria
Year: 1983
Nicknamed the "Grand Sonata," this is one of Beethoven’s longest piano sonatas. It was his greatest solo piano work at the time, both in scope and emotional reach. It feels expansive, with room to explore bold ideas and tender reflections. The first movement is spacious and confident, The Largo is deeply expressive, the third movement brings a graceful dance-like spirit, and the finale is lively. Sonata No. 4 is Beethoven’s first truly large-scale piano work.
