In Part 3 the mythic world moves into blazing heroic action: Siegfried, the fearless son of Siegmund and Sieglinde, has been raised by a scheming dwarf, who hopes to use the boy to win the cursed Ring for himself. Ignorant of his noble birth but overflowing with wild strength, Siegfried reforges his father’s shattered sword. After slaying the dragon, Siegfried tastes its blood and suddenly understands the language of birds, but the Ring’s curse has not been defeated.
