This is the final part to the epic Ring Cycle and betrayal, power, and fate collide. Siegfried, now under the influence of a magic potion, forgets his love for Brunnhilde and becomes entangled in a web of deception that leads to his death. Realizing the truth, Brunnhilde reclaims the ring and sacrifices herself on Siegfried’s funeral pyre. In the final moments, the Rhine overflows and the cursed ring is returned to its rightful guardians. Wagner closes the Cycle with grand melodrama.
